" In the early 1990's, under the leadership of Frederick Migayrou the FRAC Centre focuses its collection on the relationship between art and architecture. The architecture is understood as a field of art in itself. The FRAC Centre acquires works of artists related to architecture and architectural projects through models, drawings, etc., around the experimentation dimension of the 1950's to today. This collection now gathers some 300 works, 800 models of architecture and more than 15000 drawings and many architects funds. It is represented through 160 architects and a hundred artists. The collection of the FRAC Centre is presented today as a unique heritage of experimental architecture of the last sixty years, in connection with the artistic creation. It is given as a cross questioning of art and architecture, which share a common aesthetic field. " "Art & Architecture" examines the way in which artistic production from the 1960's to today has been fueled by the architecture. A dozen essays gives us a thorough insight into these issues, from modernism of the early twentieth century to architecture-sculpture, from conceptual art to contemporary artistic practices.
